Flight Notifier

For public-safety drone programs on DJI Dock + FlightHub 2

The drone is up. Your people know in seconds.

When a dock launches an aircraft, Flight Notifier texts or emails your dispatchers, supervisors and partner agencies a link to the live video. No app to install, no FlightHub account needed to watch.

How it works

Three things happen. Only one of them is new.

STEP 1 · ONCE

Connect your FlightHub 2 organization

Paste the organization key from your FlightHub 2 settings, pick the projects to watch, and enter the livestream share link your operator created. Ask the people who should be told, add them with their consent recorded, and Flight Notifier sends each new mobile number one confirmation text.

STEP 2 · EVERY 10 SECONDS

We read the fleet state

Flight Notifier asks FlightHub 2 for the state of your docks and aircraft, read-only. A dock going from Idle to In Operation, or an aircraft entering a flying mode, is a launch. Powering an aircraft on in the cockpit is not.

STEP 3 · PER FLIGHT

One message per flight

Each recipient gets a single text and/or email with the aircraft callsign, time, livestream link and password if you set one. The wording is fixed and written by Flight Notifier. Nothing on landing unless you turn that on. No duplicates when a flight has several phases.

What recipients get

A link that opens video, not a login screen.

Works without a FlightHub account

The link opens FlightHub 2's own livestream share page in any phone browser. If you set a share password, it is in the same text.

You control who, per project

Each project has its own recipient list. Dispatch gets the patrol project; the county EOC gets the search-and-rescue project. Recipients reply STOP to leave a list at any time.

Honest about livestream minutes

Shared viewing is billed by DJI to your organization as viewers × minutes. Flight Notifier shows the reach of every list so you keep it to the people who need to watch.

Read-only, by construction

Flight Notifier never starts a livestream, dispatches a task or touches a dock. The software has no code path that writes to FlightHub, and your key is sent only to DJI's own API host over HTTPS.

Questions

Asked by drone program managers

Does this give anyone control of our aircraft?

No. Flight Notifier only reads device state from the FlightHub 2 API. It cannot start livestreams, create tasks, move aircraft or change settings. Your organization key is stored encrypted and is used for read requests to DJI's API host only.

How fast is the text after takeoff?

In measured flights the dock reported the launch within ten seconds of the operator's action, and the text reached the phone five to thirty seconds after that action. Carrier delivery time is the largest variable.

Will opening the Virtual Cockpit trigger a text?

No. Opening the cockpit powers the aircraft on, and an aircraft that is merely online is not a flight. A text goes out only when the dock enters In Operation or the aircraft enters a flying mode.

What if the share link expires?

You enter the link's validity date. Flight Notifier warns you a week ahead and the day of, and never sends a dead link; if a flight starts with an expired link, your admins are alerted instead.

How do recipients opt in and out?

Your admin asks each person first, reading them a short consent script shown in the app, and adds them only after they agree; Flight Notifier then sends the number one confirmation text. Replying STOP to any message removes that number from every list immediately; replying HELP returns support information. See the SMS terms and the proof of consent page.

Which number do texts come from?

From a dedicated Flight Notifier toll-free number, verified with US carriers for Sentinel Dynamics, LLC. Save it in your contacts as "Drone launch alerts".
